Interview/“Trust is earned through effort. I want to sincerely respond to our customers’ voices.”

—First, please introduce yourself.
Hello. My name is Huang Juan. I joined the Shanghai branch of Changzhou OPK in 2011 and have been involved in logistics and material handling equipment sales for 13 years. Currently, I’m primarily responsible for the “Yangtze River Delta region” including Jiangsu Province, Zhejiang Province, and Shanghai City, as well as the “Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region”.
Everyone affectionately calls me “Xiao Huang”. As a salesperson, I interact with many people, so it makes me very happy to be called that way.

—Please tell us about your career so far.

Before joining Changzhou OPK’s Shanghai branch, I worked as a tour guide. I guided tours all over the country and interacted with many customers. I feel that experience is being utilized in my current sales activities. For example, the ability to instantly understand customers’ needs, flexibility in dealing with problems, and the attitude of valuing conversations with people.

—What do you value most in your sales work?
Above all, it’s “trust relationships”. More than selling products, I prioritize building relationships where customers feel “confident consulting with me”. For this reason, I place great importance on visiting sites in person. I go to customers’ factories and offices to directly hear their needs and challenges, and think of solutions together. I believe that the trust built up in this way ultimately leads to contracts.

—Do you have any memorable episodes from your sales activities so far?
There’s one unforgettable experience. I once made a proposal to a customer without sufficient preparation and lost their trust. I was discouraged, but it became an opportunity for self-reflection. I consulted with my superiors and seniors, and thoroughly retrained my product knowledge and presentation skills.
A few months later, I had the opportunity to propose to the same customer again, and this time I approached them with a customized proposal and a sincere attitude. As a result, we successfully secured the contract. I still remember the excitement I felt then. It was an experience that taught me the importance of learning from failures and growing.

At OPK, We Have a Culture where each Member Brings Their Ideas, Strives to Improve the Quality of Proposals to Customers, and Helps each other when in Trouble.

—When do you feel the most “satisfaction” as a salesperson?
Definitely when customers say “thank you” or “I’m glad I chose you”. That’s my greatest motivation. Also, the moments when a big project succeeds and I can share the joy with my colleagues are very gratifying.

—Please tell us about the atmosphere of your team in daily life.
It’s very bright and positive. Everyone is passionate about sales performance, and we have lively discussions in our daily meetings. Each person brings ideas and strives to improve the quality of proposals to customers. We also have a culture of helping each other when in trouble. I truly feel that we are “fighting comrades” and “learning partners”.

—How do you spend your private time?
I love traveling! I really enjoy walking through unfamiliar cities, experiencing the lives of local people, and visiting historical places. With my experience as a tour guide, I naturally find myself planning itineraries and figuring out how to move around smoothly when I travel (laughs).

—By the way, what car do you drive?
I drive a Tesla Model Y. It’s quiet, comfortable to ride in, and fun to drive. I like that it’s also environmentally friendly.

—Do you have any favorite foods or books?
I love seafood! Especially crab and shrimp are tastes of happiness (laughs). Also, I like reading, and I often read prose. I find comfort in writings that carefully describe everyday life, travel experiences, and life perspectives.

—Who do you respect?
I have deep respect for people who work with their hands dirty and sweat dripping. I believe every job has value and each one supports society.

—What are your recommended spots in your home country, China?
If you come to Shanghai, I definitely recommend visiting modern landmarks like the “Shanghai Tower”, “Xintiandi”, and the “Oriental Pearl Tower”. On the other hand, I also recommend historical areas like “The Bund”, “Yu Garden”, and “Zhujiajiao Ancient Town”. It’s an attractive city where modernity and tradition coexist in harmony.

—What impression do you have of Japan?
I have a very good impression. I really love Japanese food like sushi, sashimi, and ramen. And I’m always impressed by the Japanese craftsman spirit. The attitude of pursuing one thing for many years and finishing it carefully has influenced my own sales style as well.

—Please tell us about your feelings towards OPK as a company and your future goals.
OPK is like a “family” to me. All the experiences and encounters with people I’ve had here are my treasures. I want to continue to take on more challenges and grow with the team. And I want to support OPK’s vision of leading the global market with its craftsmanship spirit and innovation from the front lines.

—Lastly, please share a message for our readers.
There are small moments of happiness scattered throughout our daily lives. Even in busy days, don’t forget to live true to yourself and stay positive. I hope each of you encounters your own shining moments.
