Album I Was Into Back Then:⑧Tourist History(Two Door Cinema Club)

Introduction
I am Konno, a member of the management team at OKUDAYA CONNECT.
In my previous post, I mentioned “Antidotes” (Foals) as the seventh music album I was really into back then.
This time, I would like to introduce the album I got into after being hooked on Foals’ Antidotes…
Looking for a band to groove and dance to…
After getting hooked on Foals’ “Antidotes,” I started listening to bands and albums in similar genres.
Although there were likely various subgenres if you break it down, broadly speaking, I think I was exploring a lot of “UK Rock.”
Speaking of famous ones, there are bands like Arctic Monkeys and Bloc Party.
And also Klaxons, whose album I introduced before…
I think it was only for that brief period, but I also used to search through music magazines to see if there were any bands or albums with a similar vibe.
* Although, to be honest, I was mostly just browsing through them at the bookstore…

Browsing magazines then renting CDs… I repeated this cycle a few times, and the biggest hit out of all of them was this album.
Album Name:Tourist History
Artist Name:Two Door Cinema Club
As the genre listed on Wikipedia says ‘electro-pop,’ they might not be a straight-up rock band, but I fell in love with a vibe that was slightly different from the UK rock I had been listening to up until then.
It’s a short album with only 10 tracks and a total playtime of about 32 minutes, but I think it’s a record that really lets you immerse yourself in the artist’s world.
There are hardly any filler tracks, and I’d say it easily makes it into my personal top 30 masterpiece albums.
* Though to be fair, I haven’t actually decided on the other 29…
At Summer Sonic…
When I attended Summer Sonic Osaka in 2013, my biggest must-see act was Two Door Cinema Club.
At the exact time when massive artists like Mr. Children and MUSE were performing on the main stage, I headed to the only indoor stage.
I was completely exhausted after wandering around the scorching hot Maishima for almost the whole day, but… they were absolutely incredible.
I haven’t really kept up with them at all since their first album, but apparently they are playing a live show in Osaka in December 2026.
Lately, I’ve been thinking about how great it would be if I could somehow make it…
If anyone out there is planning to go, please definitely invite me!
